Julia Catherine DONALDSON (naskiĝis la 16-an de septembro 1948) estas angla verkistino, dramisto kaj aktorino, membro de la Ordeno de la Brita Imperio. Ŝi estas ĉefe fama pro siaj rimaj rakontoj por infanoj, precipe tiuj ilustritaj de la ilustristo Axel Scheffler, kiuj inkluzivas la librojn La Krubalo, Ride on a Broom, The Monkey Has a Problem kaj Wooden Man. Komence de sia literatura kariero, ŝi verkis kantojn por porinfanaj televidprogramoj, sed ŝi preferis koncentriĝi ĉefe pri verkado de infanlibroj ĉar la vortoj al unu el la kantoj, kiujn ŝi verkis: "A Squash and a Squeeze", estis formitaj en infanlibron en 1993 kun granda sukceso. En 1995, serĉante ideojn por eduka serio de teatraĵoj bazitaj sur tradiciaj rakontoj, Donaldson trovis version de ĉina rakonto pri knabineto kiu eskapas de tigro kiu minacas formanĝi ŝin asertante esti la reĝino de la ĝangalo., kaj invitas lin por sekvi ŝin. La tigro forkuras. Donaldson sentis ke tiu rakonto povus esti evoluigita en pli ol instruan objekton kaj resendita al poste kiel ebla bazo por infana komikso. Ŝi decidis igi la knabinon muson, kaj elektis vulpon, strigon kaj serpenton kiel arbarestaĵojn. Eĉ post pluraj ŝanĝoj, "Wreckedŝajnis neebla verki, sed kun la instigo de ŝia filo, Alistair Donaldson, Donaldson daŭrigis kun ŝia ideo.
